Question

Does the hook at the top rotate so that once the bike is hanging it can be rotated to move flat against the wall?

My point being that if the bike is hanging as though it were being ridden up the wall, it would stick out into the room, whereas if it could be rotated so that it pressed the handle bars up against the wall (as though it were lying on its side on the wall) it would be more efficient in saving space.

No the hook is fixed. If it was possible to rotate (with the bike on) it would have to be very long to incorporate the full with of the bike including the handle bars. But your right the bikes do stick out and you must consider this if it is a problem or not. Alternatively, get a wall mounted hanger system that allows your bike to stowed flat against the wall.

What you could try is mount the hook on a piece of wood that is fixed to the wall using hinges.??

No this hook does not pivot on the wall. However, you will be able to slant the bike towards the wall as suggested in you diagrams.

Question

Delta Leonardo Wall Mount - I note that there have been problems with the security of the upper screw. What is the diameter of the screw holes?

I wondered if I could insert 2 bolts instead of screws - in my case I could add a plate on the reverse timber upright I am using, and secure the mount more firmly.

I read these comments about the strength of the screws, so I elected to drill holes directly into the bricks on my garage wall, not the mortar in between. I used heavy duty rawlplugs and long screws. So far it has worked and seems very secure

I have several of these and I learned that you must secure this bracket properly. My first attempt saw the bike pull away from the wall, and I'm a joiner! I got some heavy duty raw plugs and screws and that did the trick. I put mine into brick, I would recommend hanging these on plasterboard Walls. When up though, they do the trick.

Hi,
Regarding your issue with the wall mount, when fixing to solid concrete they is no problem,
fixing to wood i can only suggest looking into the wood bolts that when tightened open up inside the drilled hole,
Regards,
Vaughan.
