Customer questions and answers for Hamax Smiley Child Seat

Question

Does any child seat manufacturer stipulate a minimum age a child must be before they use their products?

I have a three month old daughter and I am keen to purchase a child seat and try her out in it on a few short journey's off road as I think she would enjoy the experience - but I obviously don't want to compromise safety !

Hello
these child seats and to be honest many other brands normally say 9 months of age to 22kg.

I think the general rule of thumb is to wait until they can sit up by themselves.
Maybe 'off road' might be a little extreme for a 3 month (my opionion).

answer 4
The age a child can sit in a child seat depends on the individual child. Your child needs to be able to sit up and support their head by themselves before they can sit comfortably and safely in a child seat.

I found that my kids could start using a child seat from about 9 months onwards.

I hope this helps. Ben.

I don't think this will go onto a BMX bike. There is not much clearance there for the seat to fit properly.

Hello
no this certainly would not fit onto a bmx as the bike is not designed for taking a child seat.

Yes the cable will be in the way. I suggest you check out the co-pilot seats instead. These use pannier rack mounts instead.

Hope this helps

Hi there,

I would recommend bringing your bike for a mechanic to look at. They will be able to advise you on comparability.

Question

With this type of bike seat, can you fit it to the seat post instead of the frame?

My partners bike is a Specialized Myka in 15" which means that the bike seat that we have doesn't clear the rear wheel when it is fitted to the frame. If not, can you tell me if there is a particular make and model of child seat that reaches far enough to avoid this problem, or if 'Co-pilot' seats are the answer

With a 14" frame the it is likely the frame will be too small for the bracket. It would be worth going to your local Evans store (if they stock a Hamax seat) to try one.

Hello,

Unfortunately this bike is unable to take any sort of child seat i'm afraid, the seat tube on this frame is too laid back as this is where the bracket will fit for the seat, also we do not offer any front child seat at all.
