Question

Do I need to get some replacement rivets too?

I am about to clean a dirty shimano chain, but need to get it off the bike first. I understand that this tool (Park CT5 Compact Chain Brute) will extract a rivet and enable me to get the chain off, but that I will then need a replacement rivet to put it back togther again. Where do I get a replacement rivet from?

answer 2
no you will not, when you are breaking the chain, you push the pin through so far and you will be ble to break the chain (the pin will still slightly be sticking out one side of the chain link), you will then put the chain back back togther and push the pin in from the other side. no replcement parts needed.

I would use the same rivet, assuming it came out cleanly. Have done so many times without any problems.

This is not designed to work with wide/tall chains. You may be lucky - it will work with some larger sizes, but there is no guarantee!
The CT-7 tool is designed for large size track/BMX chains.

Yes it should work fine. The only chain I've had problems breaking with one of these is a half link.

Hope this helps
